Weight Watchers/McDonald's pairing 'bad' for Maori

A healthy food campaigner is critical of a partnership between Weight Watchers and fast food giant McDonald's.

Alison White says it is a cynical commercial ploy that could have disastrous effects for Maori.

She told Waatea News while the salads Weight Watchers is endorsing may be healthy, the dressings which go on them are not.

She also says while the diet drinks being sold in combos have less sugar, they still contain the artificial sweetener aspartame.

Ms White says when McDonalds used cyclist Sarah Ulmer to promote their salads, it led to a jump in sales of all their products, including the unhealthy ones.
