Funeral of mountain guide

6:12 am on 20 August 2008

The funeral of a mountain guide who died on a ski tour with the Prime Minister will be held at Lake Tekapo on Wednesday.

Gottlieb Braun-Elwert, 59, had a ruptured aorta last Thursday, at a hut on the Two Thumbs range.

He had been guiding Helen Clark and her husband, Peter Davis, as well as two cabinet ministers, David Parker and Damien O'Connor.

Miss Clark is at the Pacific Islands Forum in Niue, but her husband will read a tribute she has written for the occasion.

Mr Parker and Mr O'Connor will also attend the service, at the Tekapo Community Hall.
