NZ Herald

The New Zealand Herald] features triathlete Bevan Docherty, with the headline 'Bronze is Beautiful too'. The paper says he's delighted with his bronze medal in the event, despite looking like he was going to take out gold.

The Herald also looks at house prices, saying many believe now is the best time in years to buy.

Dominion Post

The Dominion Post leads with police measures to curb domestic violence in Wairarapa, claiming they are bending the rules on privacy to save lives by sharing files relating to offenders and victims with agencies that are not party to official agreements.

The paper also features Bevan Docherty's bronze celebrations and expects his motivation levels to be boosted in London in 2012.

The Press

The Press says police are bracing themselves for hundreds of Canterbury University students who are expected to converge on a rogue Indie 500 car rally at the weekend. Last year 69 people were charged and arrested over rioting in Dunedin after the rally.

Olympian Barbara Kendal is to quit board sailing for at least a year and 'go knitting'. She goes into Wednesday's medal race in seventh place.

ODT

The Otago Daily Times leads with concerns over the rogue Indie 500 car rally saying police are calling extra staff from Canterbury, Invercargill and rural parts of Otago.

Maersk shipping has cut Otago container traffic by 22%. The ODT says Port Otago was given no advance warning before notification last Thursday that the company is withdrawing 104 ships from its Southern Star service from September.
