Alt-country singer-songwriter Mel Parsons is preparing to go on the road again, with a tour around the country planned for October.
The New Zealand singer - who grew up on a farm near Westport - has released three albums, and twice been nominated for 'Folk Album Of The Year' at the NZ Music Awards.
She was also a finalist for this year's coveted APRA Silver Scroll with her song Get Out Alive, which she wrote after being involved in a vehicle accident last year.
Here, she joins Afternoons host Jesse Mulligan to talk about her music and play songs including Another City - her soulful tribute to a traveller's life.
