Sheet ice on the runway has closed Queenstown airport on Sunday morning.
Air New Zealand says no flights are cancelled yet, but it's checking road conditions between Queenstown and Invercargill in case flights need to be diverted there.
Although the airport did not close on Saturday, flights were disrupted by weather conditions disrupt flights.
The airline says there is a risk of flights being cancelled on Sunday, but hopes most passengers on early flights will be away at least late morning.
