A thread of the international fashion event, Wellington's World of Wearable Arts, has made its way back to the event's birthplace of Nelson.

The supreme winner of this year's World of Wearable Arts is Peter Wakeman from Motueka.
He won with his entry titled, 'Diva's Dreamscape', in the Creative Excellence Section beating 122 other costumes.

Diva's Dreamscape was entered in the Creative Excellence Section: Architecture and described as a clever interpretation of the art deco era of design.
It is made of stainless steel, wood and fibreglass and the garment impressed the judges with its exquisite workmanship.
Mr Wakeman said despite winning the top award in a category based on architecture his design was born from his imagination alone.
"My inspiration wasn't drawn from any particular building or piece of architecture.
"It's just what my imagination conjured up."
It was the third time that Wakeman had entered the competition, he was named runner up to the Supreme Award Winner in 2013 for his pink fibre glass creation 'Chica under Glass'.
He takes home $30,000 in prizes.
Dame Suzie Moncrieff noted that this year's supreme award winner had a clear artistic integrity and responded perfectly to the brief for the Creative Excellence Section.
"Diva's Dreamscape really is a stunning piece of art, it has a strong simplicity that works perfectly from every angle. The use of such hard materials to create a sophisticated garment demonstrates great skill and creative ability."
The runner up hails from Shanghai in China. Xi Zhang a student from Donghua University won with her garment 'Deadly Beauty'.
