A controversial weekly men's magazine which has been accused of promoting rape culture is to close.
Bauer Media has confirmed Zoo Weekly will close next month because of economic conditions, with the magazine's final edition going on sale on 12 October.
Coles supermarkets recently stopped selling Zoo in Australia after campaigners said the magazine objectified women and promoted rape culture.
There was also a push to get the magazine taken off New Zealand supermarket shelves, but Progressive Enterprises declined to remove it.
Australian women's rights advocate Laura Pintur led the campaign to see the magazine scrapped from supermarkets, including Countdown.
She said the closure of the magazine was a win for campaigners.
"It totally took me by surprise, and the fact that we started this campaign purely to get it out of two supermarkets iN Australia, and now it's gone global. so for Zoo now to say they're shutting down, it's a huge success for us."
