A draft report into the Tamahere coolstore fire in April has been handed to National Commander of the Fire Service Mike Hall.
One firefighter died and seven others were injured when the coolstore exploded just as the Fire Service was responding to an alarm call-out.
One injured officer is still in hospital.
Mr Hall, has up to 10 days to comment on the report before it is finalised by the investigation team and then delivered to the Fire Service Commission for consideration at its next meeting.
A Fire Service spokesperson says this could possibly happen at its meeting next week or at its September meeting.
It is then expected to be made public.
