The police in Hamilton have launched an inquiry to find out how the body of a man ended up in the Waikato River earlier this month.
The body of Phillip Morris, who was 38, was recovered from the river after being discovered by a passerby.
The police said the results of a post mortem led them to believe there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
But how the body ended up in the river is still unexplained.
The police said the Police Special Search Group was searching the riverbank near where Mr Morris was found and detectives were carrying out routine inquires.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson said the inquiry was in its early stages and the police wanted anyone who had information on what happened to Mr Morris to come forward.
