A jury in the trial of a group of men charged in connection with the death of a South Auckland liquor store owner has adjourned for a third day.
Navtej Singh, 30, died from a single gunshot wound to his stomach, the day after his Manurewa liquor store was robbed at gunpoint on 7 June 2008.
Anitelea Chan-Kee, Tino Felise, Eti Filoa, Walter McCarthy, Myron Felise and Jason Naseri are charged with murdering Mr Singh and aggravated robbery.
Mefiposeta Chan-Kee is charged with being an accessory to murder.
The jury at the High Court in Auckland began deliberations about 3pm on Monday and retired again at 4pm on Wednesday following a five-week trial.
The jury has yet to return any verdicts or ask any questions in court and will resume deliberations at 9.30am on Thursday.
The Crown says six men are charged with murder but CCTV footage shows that Anitelea Chan-Kee pulled the trigger of the rifle.
The defence says it is up to the Crown to prove that Anitelea Chan-Kee had murderous intent when he shot Mr Singh.
In his summing up on Monday, Justice Lang told the jury it must first determine if the man who pulled the trigger is guilty of murder before looking at the other charges.
The judge said the jury must be satisfied that the others charged with murder knew Antielea Chan Kee intended to seriously hurt or murder Mr Singh before they went to the store. He asked jurors to consider all the charges for each of the accused carefully.
