Ashburton police had to break up up a drunken brawl this morning, in the second mass public fight in the town this week.
Four men have been arrested after the early morning brawl outside an Ashburton bar.
It follows a 13-person gang fight in the South Island town on Thursday which involved baseball bats, sticks and an axe.
Police said the men involved in this morning's conflict spilled out at closing time just after 3am, and a fight broke out over an argument.
When officers arrived, the brawl had shifted onto vacant land that runs between Tancred Street and Burnett Street, and a number of shop windows were broken.
Police said they broke up the fight with the help of local security and bar staff.
They said no one was hurt, and the violence was not connected to the earlier fight.
