Rethink on supply of roading materials

5:12 pm on 6 August 2008

A potential shortage of rock and stone needed for road building and construction in Christchurch has forced a review on how it might be supplied.

Quarry owners and Christchurch City Council have agreed to work together on sorting out problems that have restricted the guaranteed supply of aggregate materials.

Both parties have signed a memorandum of understanding on how to obtain aggregate supply for the next 50 to 100 years.
