A case against the Ministry of Social Development relating to the shooting of two employees at its Ashburton office has been put off until next year.

The ministry has pleaded not guilty to one charge of breaching the Health and Safety in Employment Act, relating to the deaths of Peg Noble and Susan Cleveland on 1 September 2014.

Two other employees were also injured in the same incident.

A date for a two-week trial is expected to be set at a hearing in December.

Russell Tully, the man accused of murdering the two women, is also awaiting trial.
