Police have arrested a man after a shooting in Maungaturoto in Northland.
Officers were called to a home at about 9.30pm on Wedneday after a man was shot in the lower leg.
The Armed Offenders Squad traced a man to another address in the township. He was taken into custody at about 3am.
A man, 59, is due to appear in the Whangarei District Court on Thursday on assault and firearms charges.
The man who was shot is in a stable condition after surgery.
