Hospital back-up power tested

11:57 am on 30 July 2008

A test of Dunedin Hospital's emergency power system has been completed successfully.

Mains power was turned off for two and a half hours on Wednesday morning and the hospital ran off an emergency generator, to simulate a power outage.

This limited access to phones, computers and lifts.

Otago District Health Board duty manager Elaine Chisnall says a couple of small problems were encountered relating to IT systems, but they were rectified fairly promptly.
