War medals stolen from Huntly house

2:17 pm on 24 July 2008

Seven war medals have been stolen amongst other goods, from a house in Huntly over the weekend.

The medals, owned by a collector, include New Zealand and British medals from World War I. They are valued at $3500.

Police say the total amount of property stolen is valued at $20,000.

They don't believe the medals were targetted but suspect they were taken to make some fast cash.

Although the medals are not as significant as the Victoria Crosses taken in Waiouru last year, they are important.
