Police have charged the owner of four hunting dogs that mauled a Waikato boy.
He had more than 100 wounds to his arms, legs and buttocks when the pitbull-greyhound-crosses attacked him while he was on his bike last week.
The Waitoa boy, aged 13, needed 300 stitches and spent five days in Waikato hospital.
The dogs have since been destroyed.
Police say their owner, a local man, 37, is charged with owning a dog which causes injury, and failing to register the four animals.
Policesay the boy's mother reports says he is recovering well - both physically and mentally.
