7:56 pm on 23 July 2008

Police in Christchurch say the case of an elderly woman being pushed in front of oncoming traffic has been solved.

The woman, 77, said she was pushed on to a road by a man who was walking a golden retriever that was in a dog harness.

She fell, hit her head and grazed her elbow. The incident happened at at 5pm on Tuesday.

Police say they have spoken to the man, who is blind, and there is no evidence of malice on anyone's behalf.

They say it appears the two bumped into each other and the blind man did not know the woman had fallen.
