The Department of Conservation is overhauling its 20-year-old signature khaki uniforms, with designs to be released next year.
The uniforms for DoC's 1200 field-based staff were last updated in the 1990s.
The department said fabrics had improved since then and are now more durable, functional and better for cooler environments.
It said the uniform would still be green. The designs will be released next year but DoC would not say how much the new kit would cost, as it said that would affect the tendering process.
