Quake at Hanmer Springs

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the richter scale has occurred in the South Island.

It was recorded 20km south of Hanmer Springs at 5.20am on Sunday.

GNS Science says it had a depth of 15km and is likely to have been felt quite sharply in North Canterbury.

Another quake was recorded 30km south east of Kaikoura at 3.26pm on Friday. It measured magnitude 3.8 and was 5km deep.
