A search is underway for an American tramper last seen near Queenstown more than a week ago.

David Tamowski, 55, was dropped off at the Routeburn Shelter on 7 April. Police believe he intended to do the Three Passes tramp.
He was reported missing yesterday after he failed to make a planned flight to meet his family in Auckland.
Mr Tamowski was well-prepared and was carrying a cellphone but police say concern is mounting for his safety.
Searchers are checking along the Routeburn Track for any sign of him.
