Hutt Valley DHB chief executive Chai Chuah has been named as the first national director of the new National Health Board.

He has been acting director since October.

The board was established by the Government late last year as a business unit within the Ministry of Health to take over planning, funding and other key roles across all 21 DHBs.

A former Treasury head, Murray Horn, is the chair of the advisory board overseeing the new board.

The ministry has announced that the Hutt Valley DHB chief executive Chai Chuah will be its national director.
