Jailed businessman's name released

6:05 pm on 13 February 2015

A businessman jailed for 15 years for shackling a woman and sexually abusing her in a room referred to as his dungeon can now be named for the first time.

Alister Stuart Lyon, also known as Mark Lyon, did have name suppression but that lapsed at 5pm this afternoon.

Lyon was jailed for 15 years in December for charges relating to plying young women with methamphetamine for sex.

He was also found guilty of a sexual violation against a woman picked up on an Auckland street and delivered to his home.

She was stripped and put in a dog collar and leg irons before Lyon subjected her to hours of abuse.

Lyon had name suppression to protect his fair trial rights because he had been facing other charges.

But, earlier this week, he pleaded guilty to charges of having methamphetamine, a meth pipe and a stun gun.
