Health worker admits accessing child porn

9:17 am on 29 January 2015

A senior health professional has been found guilty of professional misconduct for accessing and viewing child pornography.

The case was heard by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal in Wellington yesterday.

Radio New Zealand has been prevented by the Tribunal from reporting name of the man, his former district health board employer or where the offending occurred.

The tribunal heard he accessed objectionable material over a 14-year period from 1999, with a six-month abstinence when he met his wife.

He said the offending had wrecked his marriage, and he feels sickened about what he did.

The tribunal is yet to issue its decision on penalty and final name suppression.

The man is suspended from practising.
