Hamilton council to sell pensioner units

7:29 pm on 27 November 2014

The Hamilton City Council has voted to sell its pensioner housing to local social housing providers.

The 344 units will go on the market in February next year.

Conditions of any sale include guaranteeing that existing tenants can stay in their units for as long as they like, and that the units must remain as social housing for the next 10 years.

Any pensioner housing units not sold would remain in council hands.
