Police said they cordoned off a Gloucester Street address, between Barbados Street and Fitzgerald Avenue, and found a number of firearms, at about 4.45am.

A resident of the complex, who did not want to be named, said she went out to her car and found armed police crouched in her garden.

The woman said she went upstairs, and could see at least 30 or 40 police and Armed Offenders squad members around the property.

She said they asked those inside to come out with their hands up.

Police said there were no reports of any injuries and investigations were continuing.
