Police in Waikato are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a student at a religious studies college near Hamilton.
An 18-year-old woman from overseas studying in the library at the Eastwest College of Intercultural Studies at Gordonton was grabbed around the neck and dragged outside towards a vehicle early this morning.
The woman kicked and lashed out at her attacker and managed to free herself and raise the alarm.
The man fled in a a white, older model stationwagon. He is described as Maori or Polynesian, aged in his early 20s.
Police would like any information on sightings of the vehicle in the Gordonton area in recent days.
