The Fire Service says four families have been evacuated from Housing New Zealand homes near Wellington following a fire last night.
Fire Service spokesperson Belinda Beets said firefighters were called to a four-house block on George Street in Stokes Valley at about 10 pm.
She said four families were relocated for the night, and the fire was put out about midnight.
Fire Service and police are investigating the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
Ms Beets said no one was injured.
