Cop accused of intimate recording

Police in Otago say an officer based in Central Otago has resigned and is facing a charge of making an intimate visual recording of a female.

They said he resigned after a serious allegation was made against him but were not saying anything more about the nature of the allegation or when he resigned.

Rural Otago's acting area commander, Olaf Jensen, said the officer was off-duty when the incident occurred.

The officer, who has not been named, is due to appear in court next Tuesday.
