Restrictions to public parking at Christchurch Hospital are in place from today as site works for the hospital's new Acute Services building begin.

Canterbury District Health Board chief executive David Meates said the site works mean the back of the hospital premises has to be closed to the public for safety reasons and to allow contractors to work on underground pipes and services.

The public parking area outside Christchurch Women's Hospital is closed from today and the main entrance will become a drop-off zone only. Parking for mobility permit holders will still be available.
