Arrest over murder of missing man

1:48 pm on 17 October 2014

A man has been charged with murdering missing Opunake man Aaron Roigard.

The 50-year-old Taranaki man has been remanded in custody and will appear in the New Plymouth District Court next month.

Mr Roigard disappeared after a family disagreement at an Opunake address in early June.

Extensive aerial and ground searches have failed to locate him.

The officer in charge of the inquiry, Detective Senior Sergeant Blair Burnett, said although the arrest signalled considerable progress in the inquiry, the police still want to locate Mr Roigard's body and return it to his family.
