A post-mortem is being carried out on a man who died while scuba diving in Northland.
Garry William Pitman floated to the surface without his gear off North Cape yesterday morning.
The 56-year-old from Whangarei was unresponsive and two others from his boat could not revive him.
A police dive squad is searching the area for his missing gear and the death has been referred to the Coroner.
