The police say a man they were looking for in relation to a domestic incident in the Hastings suburb of Flaxmere has walked into a police station and given himself up.
They said the man left a house in Flaxmere late this morning with a firearm after a domestic incident but made no threats to anyone and no one was injured.
When he walked into the Flaxmere police station at about 3pm he was not armed.
Peterhead School in Flaxmere was locked down while the police searched the area for the man this afternoon but the cordons have been removed and the primary school has released its pupils.
