New Zealanders will again have to pay to enter the Waitangi Treaty grounds, the Waitangi National Trust says.

The trust made visits free in 2008 but said it could no longer make ends meet because of the global financial crisis and a drastically reduced number of international tourists.
Adults will pay $15 from Saturday, while children will still be free and overseas visitors will continue to pay $25.
Trust chief executive Greg McManus said it was a commonsense response to tough times.
"To take care of the grounds, catch up on deferred maintenance on the heritage buildings, those sort of things, we have to be able to generate sufficient revenue to be able to do that."
The grounds did not get any government funding, he said.
