Part of central Christchurch has been cordoned off following the discovery of several grenades at a redzone site.
Police say a cordon has been established on North Avon Road, Flesher Avenue and River Road.
An army bomb disposal unit has been sent to the scene.
The grenade casings were found by CERA contractors.
Police are asking media and the public to stay away from the area to avoid causing unnecessary congestion.
