A speeding driver has evaded police in Central Otago for the third time today.
The driver of a blue Honda Civic saloon was originally pursued after failing to stop for a speeding offence, but police say they abandoned the chase for safety reasons.
The car later avoided a tyre deflation device system near Muttontown, and then outmanoeuvred police roadblocks in a rural area east of Alexandra.
Police said the fleeing car has reached speeds of up to 140km/h.
