An 18-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a train in South Auckland on Wednesday night.
Police say the man was struck as he tried to cross the tracks at the Homai railway station at about 10.30pm.
He was taken to Middlemore Hospital with critical injuries.
The police say the man had just got off the train and had been wheeling a pushbike across the tracks when he was hit.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
