A former Kapiti Coast mortgage broker who admitted defrauding her clients of more than $800,000 has been jailed for 4 years and 3 months.
Kerry Buddle was sentenced in the Wellington District Court on Friday on 27 charges relating to that offending and three others relating to defrauding the Ministry of Social Development.
Judge Peter Hobbs said she had offended against victims who were vulnerable and, in many cases, financially naive.
He discounted her sentence because of her guilty plea but said no other discount was possible.
A large number of Buddle's victims were in court for the sentencing.
