Charges considered over coffin stunt

Police say they are considering laying charges against the man who planted a coffin in the Hutt River as a marketing stunt.

Dan Herbison says he placed the coffin in the river on Sunday night to promote his marketing website but contacted police as soon as he realised they were taking the matter seriously.

A police spokesperson says the prank was highly insensitive to families who had lost loved ones in the area.

The coffin was found about 50 metres from where the body of a man was found less than a year ago, he said.

Mr Herbison admits it was a stunt that went too far.
