A woman has died after her car hit a horse in Waikato.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Hopkins Road, south of Matamata, at 6.20pm on Monday.
Police said the car struck a horse, killing it, before continuing along the road where it crashed through a driveway and into a tree.
They say a middle-aged woman, who was the only person in the car, died.
Hopkins Road was closed and diversions in place late on Monday night.
