Police have arrested seven people after a pursuit on Auckland's southern motorway.
They said officers spotted two stolen cars travelling in convoy in Waikato about 1.30pm on Friday.
One car pulled over for officers near the Bombay Hills but the other was pursued by patrol cars and the police helicopter, north to Auckland.
Police said at one point they had to abandon the chase because it was too dangerous.
After letting out two passengers on Queen Street, the car headed back onto the Southern motorway before the driver finally fled the vehicle at a motorway exit.
Police arrested the driver and six others, all aged under 17, and referred them to the Youth Court.
