Anglers face fines and costs of $1000

Fish and Game is welcoming fines and costs totalling $1000 for each of three Canterbury anglers.

Two of them faced charges of fishing without a licence, and the third for fishing in a restricted waterway.

They were each fined $500 in the Christchurch District Court plus court costs and the loss of their equipment.

North Canterbury Fish and Game manager Rod Cullinane said it made a $23 day licence look like a cheap investment.
