Police in Southland are looking for a prisoner who has escaped from the Gore District Court.
Rory Damien Partridge made a dash out the back door of the court, successfully dodging security guards about 4pm on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said the search for the 23-year-old has extended throughout Gore, with back-up officers from Invercargill.
Mr Partridge had been appearing in court on charges relating to burglary and driving while disqualified.
He is described as Maori, approximately 190cm tall and of thin build. He has a tattoo on his left hand.
Police say Mr Partridge should not be approached.
