Radio New Zealand's chief executive is calling on the world's public service broadcasters to join forces in providing a global digital news and information service.
Paul Thompson made the call during a speech to the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association conference in Glasgow.
Mr Thompson said the international news service he envisaged would give public service broadcasters a global reach, comprehensive coverage of breaking news and a global perspective on key issues.
He said it would be a powerful demonstration of public service broadcasters working together to exploit the digital world for the benefit of the societies they serve.
