A woman was killed and her two young children very seriously injured in car crash on State Highway Two at Te Puna in the Bay of Plenty.
The police say the woman, 26, died at the scene after her car crossed the centreline and collided head-on with another vehicle just before 12.30pm on Saturday.
One of her children, aged three years, was flown to Starship Hospital in Auckland, which said she was in a critical condition.
Another, aged four, was to be flown to the hospital later on Saturday night.
There were six people in the second car, all of whom were treated at Tauranga hospital for minor injuries.
