Police in Blenheim want to talk to a man described as a foreigner whose intervention they say stopped a serious assault in the town.
They say a 48-year-old woman was being assaulted on a suburban street early on Sunday morning when the man came to her aid, scared off her attacker and helped her to her home.
The woman was treated at Wairau's Hospital's emergency department and will be discharged later on Sunday night.
