Prosecutor who dealt drugs struck off

5:36 pm on 15 April 2014

A former police prosecutor who dealt drugs on his lunch break has been struck off as a lawyer.

Timothy John Russell Sarah was working as a police prosecutor at the Auckland District Court when arrested during raids in 2011.

He supplied methamphetamine in quantities of up to 4 grams and accessed the police national intelligence system 80 times to gain confidential information.

On Tuesday, the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal struck Sarah from the roll of barristers and solicitors.

Law Society president Chris Moore said there is no place in the profession for someone who has been found guilty of these crimes.
