Have raincoats at the ready over Easter

The MetService is warning most New Zealanders to keep their raincoats handy this Easter weekend.

Two lows will bring heavy winds and rain to some parts of the country this week, with the bad weather expected to last throughout Easter.

A severe weather warning is in place for the West Coast of the South Island with more than 100 millimetres of rain expected on Wednesday from an active front coming from the Tasman Sea.

The rest of New Zealand will also have spells of rain, but holiday destinations on the East Coast should be better off with patches of sunshine.
