Kenya mall shooting complaint upheld

A media watchdog has ruled viewers should have been warned before footage of someone being shot dead was shown on a television news programme.

The Broadcasting Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against TV3 over its coverage of a shooting massacre in a Kenyan mall.

3News showed a man trying to hide and then being shot at point blank range.

The authority says viewers should have been warned in time to remove children from the room if they wished. However, it decided not to fine or penalise TV3.
