The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust says it may appeal against a High Court decision that rejected a review of funding cuts.
The trust sought a judicial review of the Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Board decision to cut funding from $1.5 million to $900,000.
Justice Thomas says in his decision released on Wednesday that the board acted within the law and it was fair.
The trust says it will make a final decision about whether or not it will appeal in May.
The trust chairperson, Murray Bolton, says they are working with the mayor, Len Brown, to address the $600,000 funding gap through the council's annual plan.
The regional amenities funding board said the cut was because the trust was already doing well financially and did not need the extra money.
Board chairperson Vern Walsh says he is pleased with the decision as it means no more ratepayer money is likely to be spent defending its actions.
"It vindicates the board - they're a very, very professional bunch of people: independent, who are very, very careful to ensure that they do a job according to the mandate that has been set for them."
